End of Term

Charlotte finished Kindi on Friday with a delightful party. Families were invited and Dan absolutely loved the opportunity to watch Charlotte at Kindi. The teachers put together a wonderful morning of events; including songs, stories and a visit from ‘Zappo the Magician’! Each child presented their parents with a beautiful bag of Christmas delights; including a painted photo frame, a Christmas decoration and a foot-print marking each child’s uniqueness.

Charlotte’s been at Kindi for nearly a year and she’s grown up so much (but then she would have done anyway!). She has made some lovely friends – but then they disappear to school or move overseas. Her closest friend at the moment is joining the list of overseas buddies – alas! Oh well, tis all part of the rich tapestry of life!

It’s been a year of watching her develop skills of interaction with her peers, confidence and independence. There’s been a few mild bumps along the way: with her experimenting with new behaviors learned from her peers (some positive – but some of the, ‘We don’t do/say that in our family,’ kind).

She was the life and soul of the party on Friday. She sang all the songs with such enthusiasm, stopping to give us a big wink and thumbs up half-way through!

The party food at the end was greatly appreciated by all the children and it was a special moment of reflection for all the parents. Sophie was of course only too pleased to join in the feast and keeps saying, ‘I do, go Kindi, when older.’.

Now we have a wonderful summer break to look forward to. No more morning rushes out the door and worrying about early bedtimes. We are looking forward to enjoying the summer evenings together and taking it easy during the day. And, of course, we can’t WAIT to see ‘Chicken’ Grandma and Grandad at the start of February!
