The Glass Jar

THE GLASS JAR

Daylight saving has ended
the earth has turned on its axis
days have shortened
nights are long
and when the clouds set in -
with incessant rain
the darkness tries to pull me along.
.
I turn to the glass jar
a recipe of strength
to ward off the blackness.

Care to join me?

Grab that jam jar,
stuff it with fairy lights,
and tell that black dog to run far -
hide the battery pack under the lid
(because it ruins the illusion)
and rest your eyes on the MAGIC!

Let each dazzling sparkle,
reach your core and light you up from inside…
cliche much?! I know!
I’m TRYING!

The problem is – I am that jar
all full of internal hope
but oh so fragile too -
and sometimes the glass cracks
lets the light escape
and the darkness consumes me.

Let’s try again…
FOCUS ON THE LIGHT
IT’S THERE -
BELIEVE!
YOU HAVE GOT THIS!

Love this! Such a clever analogy. The light is always there, it’s just sometimes harder to find. Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt xx

Fabulous I love the idea of being the jar, trying to shine a light even when the darkest fears assail you.
