Adventures in Pokemon Hunting (with my children)

August 22, 2016August 26, 2016 BritMumInNZ 7 Comments Country Kids, Education, Technology, Walks

Pokemon Go hit New Zealand just prior to the winter school holiday break of 2016. The weather was surprisingly good and all of a sudden parents found that children were actually KEEN to GO OUTDOORS! Hubby and I were away in Australia with our three daughters, and found our phones suddenly turn into Pokemon Go […]

Write to Read iPad App – Perfect for recording those special memories

July 10, 2013 BritMumInNZ 3 Comments Reviews, Sarah, Technology, Writing

I was delighted to be asked to review a ground-breaking new iPad app, which has just launched on the App Store in the UK, called WriteReader. It is aimed at 3 to 10 year olds (and I have three children in that age bracket!). My children are absolute technology lovers, which I am okay with […]

Things I’m Loving – Technology & Nature

March 15, 2013March 15, 2013 BritMumInNZ 8 Comments Learning & growing, Loving & Not Loving, Technology

This week, we’ve embraced both technology and nature in our learning and play.  There has been plenty to love in the mix… ❤ Nature putting on a show, a stone’s throw from Wellington city, with Stingrays in the lagoon on the waterfront…. ❤ Technology keeping Shakespeare in vogue and making it all the easier to […]

Getting hip with ‘Hipstamatic’

September 4, 2010September 4, 2010 BritMumInNZ 3 Comments Random Musings, Technology

Peace brothers and sisters, last night’s howling southerlies gave way to the most splendid sunshine in Wellington this Saturday morning. Surfers were out in force in Lyall Bay and I bolted out of the door for a morning jog at a little past 7am (determined that last Saturday’s ‘I am a gazelle‘ triumph wasn’t to […]

Changing the way we read – iPad

June 13, 2010 BritMumInNZ 9 Comments Random Musings, Technology

Dan’s life is I.T. It’s what brings home the bacon and makes his brain tick to a contented tune. When a new gadget comes out on the market I know it is only a matter of time before one crosses the threshold of our home. My first reaction is usually, ‘Not another gadget’ and I […]

Alice Rose, such a little charmer

February 21, 2010February 21, 2010 BritMumInNZ 10 Comments Baby, Charlotte, Sophie, Technology

Six day’s on and we’re doing great. Alice is feeding well, calm, placid and a little charmer. She’s already worked her magic on Charli and Sophie, who are absolutely besotted with her. Of course Dan and I have felt exhausted for much of the week, but now it’s the weekend and we’ve both had a […]

A colleague left us today, we ordered in some pizza and we all had a good time. “So where’s this heading?”, you ask.

Playing the PSP game Liberty Cities, it suddenly dawned upon me how “rock solid” these software programs are – something the business world can certainly learn from.

Welcome to the ramblings & photographs of a British expat Mum living mostly in Wellington (aka *coffee capital of the world*), New Zealand, since 1997.

This blog is a way to preserve sanity whilst raising children, capture the magic in the chaos, and share tales with family, friends, fellow parents and expats.

Along with my British born husband we have been bringing up our three Kiwi born daughters in the land of sheep, kiwi fruit and fine wine, since 2003 (with a brief 16 months living in Santa Barbara, California - where we home educated our daughters). We both first landed on New Zealand soil in 1996 (hubby) and 1997 (myself) - as fresh graduates from the UK wanting to live and work overseas... our 'OE' turned into something a lot longer and more life changing than we could ever have first anticipated!

Thank you for stopping by (if you would like to know more visit the 'About' page!).
