Sharing the Lurve

This blogging world never ceases to surprise! It has brought me into contact with some incredible people around the world. Some argue that computers are creating a less personal environment and breaking down community interaction. However, I see more people switching off the television and turning to the Internet to share in real life journeys, as opposed to the fictional likes of Coronation Street and Eastenders!

As an avid letter writer in childhood and growing up in the world of ‘pen-friends’ I was already primed for the new age of communication. I have met some wonderful people via blogging and am now writing to say very many thanks to Sara of the ‘Cricket Family‘ for giving me the following award (which of course I award straight back to you for being ‘uber amazing’!).

The Uber (synonym to Super) Amazing Blog Award is given to sites who: inspire you, make you smile and laugh, have amazing design and any other reasons you can think of that makes them uber amazing! Well, here I am to mention a few of my favourite blogs and award them for being inspiring and uber amazing:

Dawes Family in New Zealand – British expats settling into their new lives in New Zealand and really living in the moment. I met Marrisa, of the Dawes Family, by chance at a local playground and found her so captivating that I invited her home for a cup of tea (I don’t make a habit of this!). When I noticed her taking photographs of anything and everything I had to ask, ‘Are you a blogger?’ – and, of course, she is! Her blog is a fun read and a wonderful mixture of humour and inspiration. She has become a very good friend and brings light into the lives of everyone she meets.

Where Karma meets Camera – I wish I could remember how I came across Hay, but when I did I was blown away. I always look forward to her posts (and worry about her when she hasn’t posted for a couple of day’s!). Not only is she an accomplished photographer, but she also has an inspiring way with words. She’s only just turned thirty (sorry Hay, but it is all over your blog!) and a mother to four! And… she home schools! Love you Hay!

Ruta’s Ramblings – Notes from North Devon – Ruta is a wonderful woman who I’ve recently had the pleasure of ‘meeting’ and am hooked for a number of reasons – she lives in Devon (which brings back countless happy memories from my childhood holiday’s), she takes beautiful photographs of nature and wildlife, she writes openly and honestly almost every day and has so much passion for what she does. She is a teacher and a very caring, dedicated one. My mother was a teacher (now retired) and growing up I got to see two-sides to school life. I always thought I would teach one day – but my mother always said, ‘No!’. The hours of dedication, love and emotion that go into being an incredible teacher leave me breathless and in awe.

Travels with my baby – Best described by the blogger herself (who was recently awarded Blog of the Year and Best Personal Blog at the Manchester Blog Awards!)…

“Travels with my baby charts the days and sleepless nights of a Mancunian baby, Milo. It started off as a way of me retaining my sanity when Milo was teeny tiny (no use pretending I’m a Stepford Wife when I’m not; I’d far rather be out doing stuff than cleaning the oven). Since then, however, Milo has developed some admirable qualities: he loves public transport, enjoys making friends with every random stranger who crosses his path; takes absolute delight in exploring new spaces; and has a killer smile that disarms even the most grumpy commuter, bus conductor and shop assistant.”

All I can say is, ‘Go read!’. This is a blog with a difference writing on an age old theme – motherhood – but it reads like a novel, draws the reader in and takes you to another place. There’s also some darn good tips on where to go (and not to go) with a baby in Manchester and surrounds!

Isaac and Jenni Marshall – I discovered this wonderful young couple fairly recently and really enjoy reading about their experiences living in Dubai, teaching and traveling. Their interests in design and photography certainly shine through in the photos on the blog. I wish them all the best with their future plans and keeping their furry ‘children’ well catered for!

Of course, there are so many more blogs I could have nominated and many well known ones – but they already have enough prestige!

The rules of this award are:
* Put the logo on your blog or post.
* Nominate at least 5 blogs (can be more) that for you are Uber Amazing!
* Let them know that they have received this Uber Amazing award by commenting on their blog.
* Share the love and link to this post and to the person you received your award from.

Thank you Sara for the award and I’m only too pleased to share the lurve! xx
