Thank you Dad for loving me, just the way I am. Thank you for the hours you spent teaching me to add and rhyme. I know it can’t have been easy, to deal with my crazy mind!
Thank you for the time you always gave to listen to me ponder, on the big questions in life, and teach me how to battle on when a mountain felt too hard to climb.
Thank you for supporting me and offering guidance along the way. And thank you for standing by when life occasionally took a crooked turn.
I remember fondly you tucking me into bed at night. Your big bear hugs and gentle hands, that would comb out the knots throughout my long hair. I loved bath nights when you’d wrap my sis and I in the biggest towel you could find.
I remember all the adventures too and grew up thirsty for some of my own! Climbing, camping, crossing streams and wind-surfing, sledging in the snow. Summer days and picnics in the New Forest. Autumn days and crunching leaves, picking black-berries and looking for chestnuts. Taking risks, climbing trees, long bike rides along country lanes, playing in the mud.
You gave me the greatest gift of all dear Dad, and that’s the gift of love. You taught me to appreciate the simple things in life (but still, I know, I cost you a pretty penny with my frivolous fancies too!).
You always worked so hard for us, as did dear Mum too, and made the time we had together always the very best. I still remember learning to swim, trusting you as you taught me to float. You taught me how to ride a bike and how to dive too! Time is such a precious gift and I really do remember. My childhood was such a happy one and I am forever thankful.
The last time I saw you I was one of two, with dear Alice still very comfy in my tum! I can’t wait for you to meet her. I’ll finally be able to join you in a proper drink this Christmas too!
With all my love and admiration, thinking of you always,
Sarah

Celebrating my Dad for Father’s Day 2011 (UK, U.S.A. & Canada)

Sarah – despite my distaste in celebrating an event less than 100 years old which was predominantly promulgated for commercial purposes, THANK YOU. A parents main achievement can be measured by thier children. I reckon we did brilliantly!
Tee hee, I know, I know – but I didn’t buy into with a card ;0)
Hope you get a game of golf in over the weekend x
What a beautiful tribute to your dad! 🙂
