Winter days | seeking light | #Prose4T | #ThePrompt | Sun

I feel the light pulling me out,
from the dark enveloping me,
I’m clinging to the dappled rays,
focusing on their offer of warmth,
as the cold air creeps around me.

It’s a battle of light and dark,
winter’s steely grasp on my hand,
leading me into the tunnel.
Bright chinks in the darkness save me,
bringing me back for a moment.

I feel clarity in the light,
it reaches deep into my heart,
and radiates out a warm glow,
extending through my whole body.
I step out, walking in the sun.

My face softens into a smile,
my eyes gladly greet the blue sky.
My walk quickens to a jog,
I feel the light winning, and yet –
all too soon the darkness descends.

Sunset falls quickly,
its beauty bittersweet.
The black cloak of night,
already shadowing the light.
Till tomorrow…
