My Sunday Photo – from Ambleside YHA, in the Lake District, England

Posted on September 26, 2016 by BritMumInNZ

This time last week we arrived in the Lake District and settled into the YHA in Ambleside for three nights. We enjoyed a wonderful few days in the Lake District, as well as enjoying the most beautiful scenery from our accommodation, located right on the shore of Lake Windermere.

This was the view from our family room, which my daughter, my parents and I shared. It was beautiful to drift off to sleep with that view, and pull back the curtains in the morning to it once again – like waking from a good dream to an equally good day! The facilities in the family room were great, as we had our own toilet and shower. A great breakfast was provided every morning – buffet service – with a good choice of hot and cold food.

We were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed sunshine and calm days, with beautiful reflections on the lake.

In the evenings we enjoyed dining at the bar at the youth hostel, which served a fabulous array of meals (and children ate for free!). It was magic to meet up with my sister, and her friend, for two of our three nights stay (they have been running around the National Parks of the UK this month, as a self created ‘National Park Challenge‘ – visit their blog for a fabulous read – Park Discoverers).

As for sharing a room, across three generations – well, we had lots of laughter, snoring and taking turns of sleeping on the top bunk!
