Head strong I push, into the coastal winds –
Buffeting my body, whistling in my ears.
I fight to keep balance, as my eyes fill with tears.
Seeing blue in the sky, after dark days of rage.Turning a corner, wind now at my back,
Pushing me along, with salt kisses on my neck.
The foaming surf rolls and crashes on rocks,
I smell its wild rage, I feel its power. My arms pump faster, my legs push harder,
I lick my lips, thirst in throat, salt on tongue.
My body feels the sweat of a workout –
Against the cooler tide of Autumn winds.I feel so alive, in this time of change,
The glare of the sun turns its face on summer
This is the season of unpredictability,
To expect – is to be – disappointed.Better to accept and surrender –
to salt kisses of Autumn winds.

“Surrender to salt kisses of autumn winds”. Powerful, memorable imagery there Sarah, somewhat Emily Bronte-ish in its elemental passion.
Haha… your line “I feel so alive”, I first read as “I feel so olive”, thinking that all that wild sea imagery was making you seasick green!!Â
Hello Phil! How lovely to hear from you & hope all is well. The girls still play with the dolls house regularly and it is much loved by all little visitors to our home. Thank you again, Sarah, Dan & girls 🙂
I love this! Beautiful. Powerful. I was right there with you.
