Things I’m Loving | School Holidays

Loving…

❤ Open, friendly and welcoming neighbours, with children that play easily with my children. It’s great to see the children running in and out of each others homes, enjoying their unstructured time together in safety and comfort.

❤ Quotes like this that crop up on my Facebook feed…

❤ Friends that visit and take us as we come (in p-jays and all) and don’t blink an eye over the dishes from last night’s dinner still waiting to be scrubbed in the sink!

❤ Sunshine days on winter school holidays.

❤ Friendships and independence – I so enjoyed spending a day looking after one of my oldest daughter’s friends – and then my daughter spent the next ‘avo (and a sleepover) at her friend’s house.

❤ Quiet days, taking every moment as best I can when I’m feeling under the weather, and a doctor that listens.

❤ Finding an absorbing read (Sanctus, by Simon Toyne) on our bookshelf that was left by my Dad when he visited earlier in the year.

❤ The love of family.

❤ A beautiful painting from my oldest daughter, that makes my eyes dance!

❤ The sound of my oldest daughter singing to herself late into the night, with the relaxed knowledge that she won’t have to hurry awake to the sound of an alarm and rush to school.

❤ Being receptive to the request of my nine and six year old for a busking license and actually going to the city council and getting them one! Their busking debut will be happening soon (!).

❤ Dinner with friends that have known us since our early years in New Zealand – when we were all carefree without children, heading away for ski weekends without a second thought, gathering for drinks and games of pool on a Friday night, dining out at restaurants when the fancy took us. Now we are all parents and our lives have changed so much, our get togethers are infrequent, but the friendships are still so strong.
