My 1st Birthday

The morning before my Birthday, on Sunday 27 June, I woke to find balloons floating from the ceiling. Mummy and Daddy, the party fairy and party elf, had been busy preparing for my 1st Birthday Party.

After breakfast and my morning nap, Daddy took me out for my swimming lesson, whilst Mummy finished the preparations. The party started without me, as I was sleeping in the car after swimming! Daddy kept a watchful eye on me, whilst having a pre-party beer. Meanwhile Mummy welcomed my little friends from my Babies in the Neighbourhood group ‘BIN Group’.

I woke fresh faced and ready to party. Wow, what a party! Me and my friends had great fun playing with the balloons and eating yummy food. Everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me (which I’d heard sung at another party, but it was quite something to have it sung to me!), then I tried to blow out the candles on my cake (with Daddy’s help!).

After the party I slept really well and had a little lie in the morning of my Birthday. I woke to a pile of presents, which I tried to open, but needed a bit of help. I’m such a lucky girl and was spoilt rotten (that’s what Mummy and Daddy said anyway!).

After a lovely Birthday breakfast Daddy went to work and I played with my new toys. I was so excited that I completely forgot about sleeping. It was such a lovely sunny day so Mummy took me into town for a walk along the harbour front in my backpack and to meet Daddy for lunch, which was great fun. On the walk back to the car I fell asleep and Mummy enjoyed a coffee and read of the paper. When I woke up Mummy and I played on the beach, drawing pictures in the sand, watching the seagulls and waving at the waves!

In the afternoon I played some more, ate a yummy Birthday dinner (with strawberries as a special treat!) and then had fun in the bath with Daddy (with my new bath toys!), before falling into an exhausted sleep at 6.30pm!

Wow! What an amazing first Birthday! Mummy and Daddy had quite an amazing time too and I saw them have a few happy tears and hugs. I guess this year has been quite a journey for them. Their lives sure have changed since I came into their world, but they wouldn’t have it any other way.
