The Wind’s Changing

The clocks went back and Wellington’s infamous, wild winds kicked in with full force. With the change in the wind, and the cooler temperatures, Charli decided her ‘cloud’ bed was a better place to sleep than the floor after all. She also decided that wearing a nappy to bed was no longer for her (and who dares battle with the strong will of a 2 year old?!). Well, I’m all for fostering an independent spirit (but dreaded any further interruptions to my already, severely disrupted sleep). Charli went the first night with no accident, the second night she kept the bed dry, but watered the floor instead, and the third night she decided to wear a nappy again.

We’ve had a week of rain and wind and I’ve kept the girls tucked up in the warm (plus, I’ve been too tired to do much venturing out, as Sophie’s on her 12 week growth spurt and fed every two hours round the clock mid-week). We did venture out for Sophie’s 3 month health-check (passed with flying colours) and to take Charli to Play Group (which I really regretted as we had a couple of paddies over the daftest things, such as ‘No, Mummy open door’, ‘Mummy get toys out’, ‘Charli want to do ‘EVERYTHING’ herself’).

I went for a drive, both girls asleep in the car, turned up the radio on full-blast and drove into town in the pouring rain, texting Dan enroute to ask if he could grab me a much needed latte. True love is… your hubbie standing in the pouring rain, whilst you sit in a warm car, drinking a latte. It’s the little things that make the difference between feeling insanely sleep deprived and sanely sleep deprived (mainly caffine in large doses and a whole lot of love and hugs)!
