Towneley Park and Its Wonderful Playground

We have been missing our favourite playgrounds in Wellington whilst holidaying in the UK. Wellington folk really are overwhelmingly fortunate to have an array of 102 playgrounds to choose from, all of amazing quality and variety, which I’ve frequently raved about in previous posts.

Well last week, whilst spending time with family in Colne, Lancashire, we came across a playground up to the standard we have become accustomed to at Towneley Park, on the outskirts of Burnley.

Towneley Hall and Park have plenty to suit all ages. The large grounds beg to be played on and the leafy trees invite many a picnic. The Hall itself looked stunning from the outside, but our little charges didn’t give us the opportunity to go in and play Lord and Lady of the Manor. The lovely modern, open-style, cafe adjacent to the hall provided a wonderful spot to survey the grounds (but the coffee wasn’t quite up to our liking!).

Further away from the hall, walking under the canopy of trees, we came to a brilliant playground. The girls delighted in the sand and water play with their cousins (as did the adults!). We were also relieved to get a decent coffee at the nearby kiosk (finally!).
