New Year’s Day was blazing and we spent a gorgeous time at our lovely, little, Zoo. Wellington Zoo has been working so hard to landscape and enhance the enclosures for the animals (and their updated website is pretty fabulous too!). There are many projects in progress too and it’s only going to get better. We delighted in seeing a kiwi, feeding the giraffe, watching the baby chimp climb and swing and making a New Year’s wish on the ‘Prayer Wheel’ in the Red Panda area.
The native bush landscaping throughout the Zoo is looking fabulous, combined with sculptures, educational ‘pit-stops’ and so much colour with the new ‘totem poles’ by the Cheetah enclosure.
Here’s a few snaps from a beaut. day:

You are so lucky that you live so close to the Zoo. Now we are further away its somewhere we very rarely visit but of course expect to this week with Grandma. Lovely photos as always xxx
Do give me a buzz on my cell if you’re heading to the Zoo, as we’d love to join you! Hope you’re having a great time! Sarah x
I can’t wait until it’s all finished, how exciting!
I know, you must come along with us one day, it’s so lovely and small that it doesn’t feel overwhelming to walk around (except for the hills!) x
when we lived in The Big Smoke (auckland) we had a family zoo pass and we’d pop in and see “our lions” or “our seals” or “our elephants” without having to do the whole exhausting day affair – though sometimes we’d do the whole exhausting day affair – and I LOVED IT!!!!!!! i miss it so much!!!!!! cos our closest zoo is in The Tron – over an hour away – and it does not compare.
love your gorgeous photos!!!!!!
love your new year’s wishes X
Thanks so much. We have one of those passes too and I love to drop in with the girls, even in term time, after school for a brief hour. It’s so easy to walk around (good exercise on the hills though!).
Hello our darlings…what a fabulous day you had out at Wellington Zoo….it is one of Grandma and Granddad’s favourite places to visit when we are in Wellington. As we looked at all the amazing pictures of the animals we could just picture all their homes in the zoo and remember where they all live from a ‘map’ in our memories of our visits there. Give our love to all the animals next time you visit tham.
