Fun at the Races & Blueberry Stuffing!

On Monday, Wellington Anniversary Day, we headed over to Trentham Race Course for the family day. We’d never been before, but thought the girls would enjoy it and there was so much free entertainment for children. Adults cost $10, children free and all the activities were free! So they had a fabulous time on the bouncy castles, petting the farm animals at Zippity Zoo, watching the horses (we placed a couple of bets but weren’t lucky), eating chips and drinking slushy (it was no surprise that Sophie woke up in the night with a sore tummy). We bumped into a few people we knew, which was a lovely surprise and after a couple of hour’s we were ready to head off for something a little quieter.

We headed onto the Blueberry Farm, where I bumped into an old friend who is working there over the summer – what a special place to be. There were so many more blueberries than our earlier visits and it didn’t take long to fill up our buckets. Our fridge and freezer is now packed with a multitude of containers, full to the brim with blueberries.

We filled our tummies with blueberry pancakes, muffins, sorbet and smoothie and were the last to leave, enjoying a wonderful chat with the owner, whilst the girls played Indians in the wig-wam.
