Football is taking us places

Fair weather football supporters are the Lee girls. This Saturday afternoon Daddy was set to play in beautiful Eastbourne and so we tagged along.

Eastbourne scenery

The postage stamp sized pitch is beautifully located next to the sandy dunes of Eastbourne beach. With beach, playground, football and art galleries all within a kilometre square we were easy to please.

We browsed the art in the local galleries and craft shops. Treated ourselves to ice blocks from the diary. Had a few scares mixed with fun at the playground. Enjoyed the views from the beach and watched people fishing from the pier. And when we did watch the football the opposition scored, so we turned away and surprise, surprise… Daddy’s team scored! Result was 4 – 2 to Daddy’s team, hip, hip, hooray!

A fabulous afternoon in a beautiful part of Wellington. The art work of a local artisit, Stacey O’Neill, really caught our attention and it is easy to see where she gets her inspiration from. Eastbourne sits with rich native bush at its back, looking out upon sparkling views of Wellington harbour.

On the drive home we pulled in at Petone foreshore to play at the marvellous play ground and watch the sun go down over Wellington city.

  3. We have a town called Eastbourne quite near us but unfortunately it looks nothing like this! What stunning scenery.

Love that first pic of the sand dunes and the light on the sea by that old jetty. Lovely.
