New Zealand is going to South Africa!

Last night was a historic night for New Zealand football. The All Whites defeated Bahrain and qualified for The World Cup.

When we first arrived in New Zealand, 1996/97, football games were pretty much a non-event with small crowds and little atmosphere. Over the years we’ve watched this change and last night was, indeed, a fabulous celebration which will see football interest continue to grow in New Zealand.

Little Dribblers‘ football clubs for children are now plentiful and popular for boys and girls. There are a lot of very excited young (and old) football fans after last night’s results. What better inspiration do children with a passion for the game need.

The result also means that there will be plenty of TV coverage of the World Cup games in New Zealand – whoop, whoop!

  1. Who cares about boring old rugby anymore, it’s football, football, football all the way here at present. Fantastic result for New Zealand last night. A nigh impossible dream come true before an ecstatically happy record crowd. Just getting to South Africa is victory enough. We’ve won our world cup already!

  2. More Kiwi kids have been playing soccer than rugby for many years now. Maybe that means we’ll get better All Whitesnow some of them have grown up.

  3. Great minds think alike.. I didn’t read your post till after I’d written mine along similar lines but loved it, it’s always nice to know there are others out there who feel the same passion about football vs. it always being rugby rugby rugby here in NZ!
