I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature’s rebirth?
~Edward Giobbi

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, “The Sensitive Plant”

Awake, thou wintry earth –
Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth
Your ancient gladness!
~Thomas Blackburn, “An Easter Hymn”

Science has never drummed up quite as effective a tranquilizing agent as a sunny spring day.
~W. Earl Hall

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.
I wonder what will next be there!
~L.H. Bailey

Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world.
~Virgil A. Kraft

The seasons are what a symphony ought to be: four perfect movements in harmony with each other.
~Arthur Rubenstein

‘Ba ba, ma ma, dribble and drool, did someone say Spring?!’
~Alice (6 and a half months)

Let us take a walk along the garden path and dance amongst the pansies.

Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world. ~Virgil A. Kraft

Ah beautiful words and pictures. I shall go to sleep peacefully knowing that in the morning a new season awaits xx
Beautiful beautiful photography Sarah! Isn’t it funny that the first day of the new season is marked by everyone in the southern hemisphere so particularly? I never remember people in the UK saying, right its the first of March, that’s it, spring is here now. Or perhaps its just how I grew up that the season changed when the weather did, not when the date did?
Gorg photos! You’re making look forward to all the floral photography coming our way! You’re camera gets good blur…love it
Gorgeous pictures. Can’t believe your spring is beginning as we’re starting our Autumn!
I love both the photos and the quotes – Welcome Spring!
Yay for spring, we certainly deserve it. Beautiful photographs. xx
Just beautiful…the pictures are stunning and the verses so topical….enjoy the arrival of Spring as we head into Autumn colours soon.!!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Spring Meghan x
Thank you Sophie and yes, I never used to see in the seasons with an actual ‘date’ growing up in England. But here in New Zealand everyone shouts out from the roof-tops and the hills when a new season dawns.
Ha, ha! It’s a new camera and I’m very much enjoying experimenting with it – expect lots of floral photography and beach photos (of course!) over the coming months… x
Thanks and sending you good weather vibes for a lovely Autumn – often a beautiful season in England x
Thanks Emma – I so enjoyed reading through some lovely Spring quotes and thought it would be nice to share x
Thank you and hurray indeed! Just hoping it’s not too much of a windy one in Welly 😉
Thanks Mum and I shall be thinking of you as your Autumn colours shine and the squirrels start to play peek-a-boo with you around your Oak trees! 🙂 x
Gorgeous photos Sarah! Love them.
