Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!” ~ Robin Williams

Daffodil bud

I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature’s rebirth?
~Edward Giobbi

New life unfurling

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, “The Sensitive Plant”

Driving through herbs

Awake, thou wintry earth –
Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth
Your ancient gladness!
~Thomas Blackburn, “An Easter Hymn”

New buds on the blueberry bushes

Science has never drummed up quite as effective a tranquilizing agent as a sunny spring day.
~W. Earl Hall

Charlotte happy with her lavender posy

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.
I wonder what will next be there!
~L.H. Bailey

The seasons are what a symphony ought to be: four perfect movements in harmony with each other.

‘Ba ba, ma ma, dribble and drool, did someone say Spring?!’

  1. Beautiful beautiful photography Sarah! Isn’t it funny that the first day of the new season is marked by everyone in the southern hemisphere so particularly? I never remember people in the UK saying, right its the first of March, that’s it, spring is here now. Or perhaps its just how I grew up that the season changed when the weather did, not when the date did?

  2. Gorg photos! You’re making look forward to all the floral photography coming our way! You’re camera gets good blur…love it

  3. Just beautiful…the pictures are stunning and the verses so topical….enjoy the arrival of Spring as we head into Autumn colours soon.!!

  4. Thank you Sophie and yes, I never used to see in the seasons with an actual ‘date’ growing up in England. But here in New Zealand everyone shouts out from the roof-tops and the hills when a new season dawns.

  5. Ha, ha! It’s a new camera and I’m very much enjoying experimenting with it – expect lots of floral photography and beach photos (of course!) over the coming months… x

  6. Thanks Mum and I shall be thinking of you as your Autumn colours shine and the squirrels start to play peek-a-boo with you around your Oak trees! 🙂 x
