Family fun at Staglands

The other week we stopped in at Staglands for a wonderful afternoon of family fun. Sophie delighted in riding the donkey. Charli was really taken with the rabbits. The black swan didn’t make a bee-line for Dan’s ankles on this occasion. I managed to avoid getting my bag nibbled by a goat. We had a magic time. It has been a while since our last visit, and it was great to do it without a buggy and having two mobile children not requiring piggy backs or shoulder rides!

I’m loving these collages… so much easier than uploading tons of photographs individually, though of course you can’t get the full picture… but anyway, click on the image below and it will fill your screen :

After a great afternoon we enjoyed a lovely meal before journeying back to Welly. Such a great little spot, tucked away in the most beautiful countryside (with blueberry picking on the way there!).

  1. We remeber our visit to Staglands and all these wonderful photos remind us of it all so clearly. How gentle you are with the rabbit Charli and Sophie….I could almost feel how soft and cuddly the rabbit’s fur felt. What a fun day you had.

I know, we did think of you and it was so nice so go somewhere filled with memories of happy days spent with you xx

  2. Yummy, yummy…how delicious the bluberries look and lovely to see you in your sun hats filling your buckets.Certainly looked like a galaxy of bluberries…..what an excellent way of describing them all. Wonder if you had bluberry coloured lips for the rest of the day !!

If we ever get round to booking our flights to the UK for your summer we can enjoy some blackberry picking like last time – did enjoy making up those crumbles!

  3. That’s it, we are definitely going this weekend. We live so close to these two places and keep saying we should go. Looks like you had real fun – love the photo collages too!

Mmmm, the blueberry place is divine – you have to savour the blueberry, butter pancakes!

  4. Staglands was on our list as a place to take Grandma but sadly we never made it. We really don’t eat enough Blueberries to make a trip there but its much better than the expensive packs you get from the supermarket that sometimes don’t last a day.

I like a good collage! xx

Hi lovely lady! Think we’re going to have to plant our own Blueberry bushes in the garden at this rate, as we are all addicted to them! I have actually bought two little plants, so finger’s crossed! Whenever we buy a pack from the supermarket they never survive the trip home – the girls have a pack each and gobble them all up within minutes – we’re lucky if we get one! Hope to see you soon x

  5. So nice to catch up on your family’s events! You always have such fun adventures=). I loved the blueberry post… reminds me of the summer I lived in Norway with my dad. We went up into the mountains and picked blueberries all day, only to discover that the bitter little things weren’t blueberries at all!!!

Wow! You lived in Norway for a summer? I LOVE Norway! I have a wonderful pen-pal, whom I started writing to when I was 12. In those days we’d write weekly, enclosing drawings, stickers etc. Now we write e-mails from time to time – but we need meet up last time I was in Europe – she flew into London for a weekend – how fabulous was that! When I was 14 I went on my first, unaccompanied flight and spent a wonderful two week’s living with her and her family. I’d love to visit again and travel up into the beautiful northern parts of the country (in summer!). I would love to hear more about your experiences in Norway one day!

  6. I completely agree- Norway is AMAZING!!! I spent the summer there when I was 9, and also still correspond with a buddy I made then. She has an adorable little boy now. We lived in a tiny town called Randaberg, near Stavanger. It was an absolutely magical place, right along the coast. It was so safe that I could just hop on my bike and ride around all day. I loved it there!!! We are hoping to make a trip back to visit her in the next few years.
