Blue like my grandparents twinkling eyes –
Forget-me-knots, blue-bells and summer skies.
Blue like Paua shell, on the sandy shore –
Blueberries, oceans and the TARDIS door.
Blue like veins, seen running under pale skin –
Royal Blue. Union Jack. Ties me to my kin.
Blue of Scotland and my mother’s eyes –
Lavender, rosemary and blue hair ties.
Blue like glacial ice and coral reefs –
Hot blue of summer and cold blue of grief.
Blue can lift my spirits high, like a kite –
Or crush my mood and send me off in flight.

Love! What a great array of images. Thank you!!
Super poem…you have a gift to write such lovely words in poetry form…just lovely to read..big hugs to all there.
Those are beautiful words you’ve strung together; imaginative and emotionally charged. I’ve actually come back a few times to read it and each time the woven words have drawn me in. I love all the references, all the memories. I second what your mum said.
Thanks Lien, that’s so very kind of you to say. I so enjoy sitting down to write a little something each week. It will be nice to collate all these poems into a little book for the girls to read when they’re older.
