I can’t wait for the world premier of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ in Wellington, on 28 November 2012. I vividly remember the buzz in 2003 when the red carpet was rolled out along Courtenay Place in Wellington to welcome the stars of ‘Return of the King’.

2003

At the time we were good friends with a couple that worked for Weta Digital and got a prime view of the red carpet, along with our first born (who was a wide-eyed babe in arms at the time).

She was only six months old and coped so well with the crowds. She spent the day in the front pack – either facing out and waving to the crowds with her cheeky grin, or snuggled into my chest for a nap.

Wellington city really knows how to hold a street party and the atmosphere was electric.

This November we will venture into the city, along with thousands of others, and not one – but three daughters – to cheer for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.

The past nine years have definitely been a journey for Dan and I! And, just like the movies, they’ll be plenty of unexpected twists and turns as we journey into the future. Let’s hope there aren’t too many dark corners, but plenty of happy endings!
