I can’t wait for the world premier of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ in Wellington, on 28 November 2012. I vividly remember the buzz in 2003 when the red carpet was rolled out along Courtenay Place in Wellington to welcome the stars of ‘Return of the King’.
At the time we were good friends with a couple that worked for Weta Digital and got a prime view of the red carpet, along with our first born (who was a wide-eyed babe in arms at the time).
She was only six months old and coped so well with the crowds. She spent the day in the front pack – either facing out and waving to the crowds with her cheeky grin, or snuggled into my chest for a nap.
Wellington city really knows how to hold a street party and the atmosphere was electric.
This November we will venture into the city, along with thousands of others, and not one – but three daughters – to cheer for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.
The past nine years have definitely been a journey for Dan and I! And, just like the movies, they’ll be plenty of unexpected twists and turns as we journey into the future. Let’s hope there aren’t too many dark corners, but plenty of happy endings!

This sounds exciting and no doubt it will be great. Love the pictures and the last photo is such a joy…..I remember it well !! Big hugs all round.
Always wanted to go to that sort of red carpet event – lovely shots.
Those photos are amazing, the red carpet sounds like so much fun. x
Well, you definitely captured the magic with your photos. The boys are huge Lord of the Rings fans and eagerly anticipate The Hobbit.
Love it! I like how you have used the journey of the ring linked with your own life tale. I love the pictures too. Orlando bloom *swoon*. Great movies x
Wow that’s an amazing post for this weeks theme. I especially like the reference at the end between your an life and the title of the Hobbit movie. It’s a magical photo of you and your children in those wonderful woods too x x
What a cool take on the theme. We are in Cape Town atm, and I’m getting lots of rugby questions as soon as they hear my accent. I always miss NZ more when we are travelling around, than when we are at home in the UK.
Super, what a wonderful opportunity. Great photo’s too x.
