High above the tree line, the dragon lay –
cairns of old fire-bombed rock marked our way.
The ground, devoid of life, was tough to walk.
We clambered over boulders, with little talk.
The crater lake lay hidden out of sight –
its dormant rim ridged with glacial ice.
Smoking fumaroles emitted steam and dust –
red lava rocks reminded us not to trust.
The dragon’s fire-breathing belly lay deep below –
its temperamental nature could always blow.

Oh wow! It was SO worth the wait! The imagery is amazing. And linking it to dragons – awesome… Thank you 😀
Thank you 🙂 I couldn’t not write something! I like the challenge every week – I’d never write if it wasn’t for this!Â
Just posted up this coming week’s theme – the girls are sticking to the elements – phew!Â
Looking forward to getting onto something else soon… like body parts or something!Â
I reckon this week’s theme is very apt for us both (sounds like you’ve had your fair share of the wet stuff this week?!). x
I couldn’t agree more.
